    John Hyshka

    President - Prairie Tide Diversified Inc. - Saskatoon

    John Hyshka became the President of Prairie Tide Diversified in 2017.  He has been tasked to take all the innovative products the company has developed over the years and commercialize them.  The first products to be launched under his stewardship are Xanflax (a clean label, gluten free substitute for Xanthan gum) and SesaFlax (a roasted flax seed that tastes like Sesame seeds).

    In 2016, John started Hyshka + Associates to help companies develop strategic plans and governance structures, raise capital, and do corporate development and licensing.  He had clients ranging from food processors, natural product companies, biotechnology and technology companies and manufacturers.

    John Hyshka has been a CFO in the life science industry for over 20 years.  He has raised over $75 million dollars in Canada for different SME’s in the agriculture, medical device and therapeutics industries.  He has also closed a number of licensing deals valued at over $30 million dollars in just upfront payments.

    John also spent 10 years in economic development running the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority for over 7 years in the 90’s.  He also worked the government of Saskatchewan in their economic development branch in the late 80’s. 

    With this experience John helps companies with working with all levels of government, applying for programs and incentives and specific site selection evaluations. 

    He has sat on a number of boards, including The Business Development Bank of Canada, The Saskatchewan Government Growth Fund, Saskatchewan Nutraceutical Network , Economic Developer’s Association of Canada, Biotec Canada’s Emerging Company sub committee and Chaired AgWest Bio for a number of years.

    He currently is the Chair of HCC Group, a private company that is in the mining industry. He is currently the Chair of the Huskie Football Foundation.

    John grew up on a farm near Paynton Saskatchewan.  He graduated from North Battleford Comprehensive High School in 1982 and the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1987.
