STEP Forms New Partnership With National Import And Export Assoc.June 25, 2007Regina, Saskatchewan - With the common goal of promoting greater professional development, public awareness and member education, Saskatchewan Trade & Export Partnership (STEP) and I.E.Canada, Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters Inc. have signed a partnership agreement to enhance Saskatchewan’s network and profile on the national stage. “This agreement provides STEP with increased access to national expertise and key contacts to better serve our membership. The partnership agreement will also strengthen our information about global supply chain management and international logistics, which is an area of focus and expertise at I.E.Canada,” said Mr. Dale Botting, president & CEO of Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership. “As a national association, we are pleased to also enhance our profile and networks in Western Canada,” added Mary Anderson, president of I.E.Canada. “STEP’s expertise will also strengthen our perspective on international trade issues related to agri-value, energy and other natural resources, as well as the manufacturing, technology and service industries that are unique to the robust Saskatchewan economy.” The first in many initiatives between the two organizations is a joint event being held later today at the Hotel Saskatchewan in Regina, featuring a keynote address by Mr. Bob Armstrong, president of Armstrong Trade and Logistics Advisory Services Inc. (ATLAS) on “Connecting waterways with highways: An outline of practical lessons learned in container port development as an economic development opportunity for Saskatchewan, Canada and the world.” “Bob will speak to the exciting opportunity to promote and connect an intelligent transportation corridor across Canada, including the potential for a major inland port to be part of this new Canadian land bridge which could be linked in Saskatchewan,” said Botting. I.E.Canada has been a leading voice for the trade community since 1932, and serves small, medium and large enterprises across Canada. Membership comprises importers and exporters, as well as a range of service providers to Canada’s trade community. I.E.Canada has a growing membership that today exceeds 800.
