Dale Botting, President & CEO Resigns From STEP

November 28, 2007

Dale Botting leaving to lead new Department of Enterprise and Innovation; Interim

Co-Presidents appointed to manage STEP

The Board of Directors of STEP congratulates Dale Botting on his appointment as Deputy Minister of the new Department of Enterprise and Innovation in the new Saskatchewan Government. Dale must assume his new duties by December 1, 2007; consequently he leaves STEP on November 30, 2007.

Dale will be serving the Honourable Lyle Stewart. Under this portfolio, he will be responsible for a newly amalgamated department responsible for regional economic and cooperative development, as well as the functions of the industry group as formerly delivered by Saskatchewan Industry and Resources. STEP’s primary linkage with the provincial government will also be through this new Department. Apart from this immediate challenge, Dale’s major task will also be to assist Minister Stewart and the new Government in the design, build, and implementation of the promised new organization called Enterprise Saskatchewan.

To ensure a smooth and workable transition for STEP under these sudden circumstances, an interim co-management structure has been approved by the Board until a permanent new President & CEO has been selected. Glen Millard and Brad Michnik will be asked to share an Acting Co-President role on an interim basis. Both will also continue their current duties as Executive Director of Export Services and Executive Director of Trade Development respectively.

The Board of Directors has begun an executive search process for a permanent President & CEO replacement.

The STEP Board would like to acknowledge the impact Dale Botting has made in taking us to new levels of success and innovation over the last few years. While we regret not being able to retain his services as long as we had hoped, the STEP Board is very pleased with Dale’s appointment to assume these bigger challenges. We look forward to continuing a very positive relationship with the new Government of Premier Wall.

On behalf of the Board, I would also like to underline the Board’s confidence and support of the interim executive team and to assure the members that STEP operations will continue to run smoothly.

Yours sincerely,

Keith Brown

Chair, STEP Board of Directors
