Speaking Engagements Calendar
About the Speakers Bureau
STEP's Speakers Bureau provides qualified guest speakers to business groups throughout the province. Its purpose is to offer exporting knowledge and expertise to the business community. There is a wide variety of subjects which can be developed into informative talks by STEP speakers.
How to Use the Speakers Bureau
Arranging for a speaker will be easiest if you can provide one or more specific topics or subject areas of interest. If you are unable to be specific, the Corporate Communications Specialist is willing to explore various possibilities with you.
Requests for speakers should be made at least four weeks in advance of the meeting date. Although it may be possible to arrange a speaker with less notice, the options in terms of people and topic development may be limited. The Corporate Communications Specialist will provide the program organizer with the name and phone number of one or more speakers. It is up to the organizer to contact the speaker to determine their availability and to complete the arrangements.
STEP Staff Biographies
This direct contact between the host and speaker is important not only to confirm the details of the meeting, but to also let the speaker know what kind of audience he or she will be addressing and to determine more precisely the topic of the speech. Program organizers will also want to obtain background information about the speaker to use in an introduction.
About Costs
There are normally no fees associated with speakers booked through the Speakers Bureau. If an organization usually provides a fee, gift or other honorarium to visiting speakers, the courtesy may be extended to STEP speakers.
Host organizations are also expected to cover travel and other expenses if the assignment requires travel outside of the city where the speaker is employed.
