Finalists for 2010 STEP Exporter of the Year Announced

Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP) is pleased to announce the five finalists for the 2010 STEP Exporter of the Year Award. The finalists are:

Alliance Grain Traders Inc. - Regina, Saskatchewan
Display Systems International Inc. - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
GB Internet Solutions Inc. - Regina, Saskatchewan
Hillberg & Berk Accessories Inc. - Regina, Saskatchewan
Sakundiak Equipment - Regina, Saskatchewan

The winner of the 2010 Exporter of the Year Award will be announced at the STEP Trade Conference “Taking Saskatchewan’s Best to the World” to be held on September 29, 2010 in Saskatoon. The Exporter of the Year Award, sponsored by Export Development Canada, acknowledges these STEP members for their achievements and success in tackling world markets. EDC is Canada's export credit agency, offering innovative commercial solutions to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business.

“The response to the Exporter of the Year Award from our membership has been as strong as our field of worthy finalists. These companies represent the diverse exporting sector that exists in Saskatchewan and is a key driver of the provincial economy,” said Mr. Lionel LaBelle, President & CEO of STEP. “Our economy is based on innovative, flexible, and dynamic businesses such as those selected. We are honoured to showcase these entrepreneurs who offer an inspiration to our membership and to the provincial business community,” he added.

Applications for the STEP Exporter of the Year Award were reviewed by a Selection Committee of business leaders involved in providing assistance to exporters. Eligible companies must be Regular Members of STEP and actively exporting. The Selection Committee considers the company’s performance in introducing new products and services into world markets, increasing export sales, achieving a high exports to total sales ratio, job creation, and an impact on the community.

STEP is a non-profit, membership driven, government/industry partnership, designed to promote the growth of Saskatchewan's export industry. STEP assists provincial businesses to realize global marketing opportunities through specially tailored services and programs. STEP pursues growth in existing foreign markets and opens doors to new ones. Members include both businesses that are experienced and those that are new to international trade. The team of professionals has the experience, knowledge, and international contacts to help companies meet their international marketing objectives.
